TeachMeet WA

TeachMeets have finally made it to Western Australia! Here is a short presentation I made to get the fine folk of Kununurra excited about this free, informal and highly engaging professional development:

And here’s Vanessa Mills and I having a yarn about it on ABC Kimberley radio.

Our inaugural Kununurra TeachMeet on 14 November, 2013 was a resounding success, with 38 people in attendance, some travelling from as far as Warmun, Wyndham, Doon Doon and Glen Hill. Since then we’ve successfully run 2 more TeachMeets for the fine folk of the East Kimberley. You can see what we’re on about by clicking here, and you can check out some of the great presentations we’ve had over at SlideShareTMWA Logo

Need more convincing of the power of TeachMeets? Have a read of this fantastic blog post from Sydney educator and e-Learning coordinator Matt Esterman (@mesterman), then check out this one from Northern Beaches Secondary College teacher Simon Harper (@s_harper3).

Thank you for the mention of my post on Organising my first Teach-meet. It does not take long to become addicted to this style of PD. I am pleased to see you are finally going to experience the power of the Teach-meet. Organising and running your very own Teach-meet is an amazing experience and for me was a natural progression after attending many last year.

Good luck and let me know how your TM goes.
