Between November, 2017 and December, 2020 I was principal at Broome North Primary School, a public school within the Western Australian Department of Education. In 2020 the school catered for children from Kindergarten to Year 6 and had 355 students enrolled, of which 27% were Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The talented and dedicated staff group comprised 23 teachers, 15 support staff, 2 deputy principals and myself. The school opened in 2015 and is located on Yawuru land in the coastal town of Broome, part of Western Australia’s stunning Kimberley region.
